Romney C. Rogers
Romney is a Fort Lauderdale native who attended local public schools. His grandfather founded the firm in 1925 and he joined the firm in 1978 and became partner in 1981.
He uses his broad breadth of knowledge and experience to counsel and work for his clients; personal, business and institutional in various areas of the law.
He is experienced in both an office practice consisting of Real Estate, Wills, Trusts and Estates and all types of Business and Banking matters, as well as in the courtroom where he has litigated and appealed matters in all these same areas of practice. He has served as city attorney for different local governments, where he advised city commissioners, drafted municipal ordinances, negotiated union contracts, and successfully prosecuted pornographic purveyors for maintaining public nuisances. In addition, his service to the legal profession includes the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers Section (YLS) of the Florida Bar and president of the Broward County Bar YLS.
Following his grandfather’s footsteps as the first Congressman elected from Fort Lauderdale, Romney has always given back to his community by being actively engaged in community service. He has been actively involved in the Fort Lauderdale community for more than three decades. His community service includes past chairman of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce (2003); president of the Fort Lauderdale Rotary Club (1986); president of Stranahan House, Inc. (1988); graduate of Leadership Broward (1988) and Leadership Florida (1991); and the inaugural class of Lifework Leadership (2007). He is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, where he has served as trustee, as well as chairman of the deacons.
Romney was elected to the Fort Lauderdale City Commission in 2009 after serving as secretary/trustee of the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Police and Fire Pension Board for five years, overseeing a $500 million pension fund. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors for the Broward Housing Partnership and co-chair of the Fort Lauderdale Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Committee for a number of years. He has also served on the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization and Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association.
